GUGGENHEIM PRIZE

FOR SAFER FLYING HANDLEY PAGE LITIGATING NEW YOEK, 4th January. One of the results of the award of the Guggenheim, prize to the Curtiss Company has been the filing of, a suit by the Handley Page Company charging an infringement of the slotted wing patents by the Curtiss Company, and asking for 300,000 dollars damages, and a countersuit by the Curtiss Company to-day for 100,000 dollars damages' in an effort to conserve its rights. It is rumoured moreover that the Handley Page Company may attempt to secure an injunction against the granting of the safety prize. The first prize of £20,000 offered by the committee of the Guggenheim Fund for the promotion of safety in aviation was awarded to the Curtiss Company for the performance of its entry.
