Great public interest is taken in the announcement made by the Prime Minister that the King.will make the opening address at the Five-Power Naval Conference which wiU begin- on 21st January. This will be the first occasion for over fourteen months on which the King has made a public speech. The last occasion on which he gave a public address was at the opening of the new Jyne Bridge at Newcastle on 10th October last year. A month later he attended the Cenotaph ceremony on Armistice Day, and the first announcement of his illness was made on 2?, nd November. The King and Queen leave London to-morrow for Saudringham, Norfolk where they will spend Christmas His Majesty will not return to London until the Naval Conference as-
