AWAMOTU OR AWAMUTU?

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—2vow that the question of (he letter n in Waiwhetu has been revived, may I venture to refer to the name of a newstreet an the same locality, viz.:—Awarnutu street. I understand that this takes the name of the stream which runs parallel with it. The residents were informed, rightly or wrongly, as they took possession that this was spelt with an o, Awamotu street, and used it so for the postal address, but when the name came to be put up at the entrance of the street it was spelt Awamutu. It would therefore, be interesting to know which is the correct spelling.—l am, etc.,

AWAMOTU.
