COOL AND UNSETTLED

BUT WEATHER IMPROVING

The cyclone responsible for the last few days' 'weather has now moved away to the east of the Chatham Islands, and a moderate anti-cyclone is advancing towards the Dominion from the west. Barometric pressure, however, is still low to the west of Cook Strait. Except in the East Cape and Bay of Plenty districts a change of wind to one with -a southerly component was in evidence this morning and temperatures have fallen considerably. Eain has again been widespread, with heavy falls in' a number of places.

Moderate to strong south-west to south winds are likely to be in evidence, and about Cook Strait and in North Auckland gale force may be reached at times. On the West Coast and in the interior of the South Island fine weather may be expected. But elsewhere conditions for the present will remain unsettled with scatterd showers. An improvement, however, is due to set in from the west. In the meantime temperatures will be cool and inland frosts m the South Island are a probability.
