A TAURANGA CENTENARY

A commemoration is to be held at Tauranga of the landing in New Zealand on 29th November, 1929, of Archdeacon Ai- • io£' Br? wn- He went to Tauranga m 1834, and was the first missionary in the district. Archdeacon Brown built the house, which is now known as The Jilms, and lived there until 1884. His body lies in the old cemetery. To-morrow, 29tli November, the old mission bell, which has been recast, will be rung at The blms at 10.30 a.m., and on Sunday afternoon a commemoration service will be held on the site of the old original mission chapel. A Maori choir will be present, and the service will be held on the spot where Archdeacon Brown lived and laboured for so many years.
