TOWN V. COUNTRY
MATCH STARTS TO-MORROW
Wellington's big programme of representative cricket for the present season is to be commenced to-morrow with the playing of the annual match, Town v. Country, at the Basin Reserve. For this match the Country selector has chosen a strong side, captained by T. C. Lowry, while the Wellington selector has made his choice of players in such a way as to give some of the young players of promise an opportunity of furthering their claims to places in teams for the important engagements ahead. Both sides for the match commencing to-morrow and finishing on Saturday include the players capable of making the play entertaining, and, as in past matches, there are good prospects of : some exhilarating displays. This match will servo as an excellent preliminary to the next big game, that between Wellington and the English team, which is to commence on. 13th December.
It has been decided that all grade matches be played on Saturday afternoon, in view of the interruptions that local club cricket will have later on when the big matches are being played, v
The Wellington Cricket Association has had many requests for honorary membership tickets for the present season, interest having been stirred by the coming visit of the English team. A limited number of these tickets is still available, and can be secured on application to the honorary secretary (Mr. A. Varney).
The umpires for the Town v. Country match are Messrs. W. Toomath and S. J. Tucker. Play is to commence' each day at 11 a.m.
