PROPOSAL DEFEATED

(By Telegraph.)

(Speefol to "The Evening Post.")

AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association decided last evening to hold the 1930 contest for the Sanders Memorial Cup on the Waitemata. Mr. A. G. .Ensol said that the Devonport Yacht Club' would not take any part in the contest unless it was confined to youths under 21 years of age. The chairman said that the association had no power to decide the point raised by Mr. Ensol, but it could be brought before the next Dominion Yachting Conference in Auckland.

A motion by Mr. Ensol that a remit be sent to the conference asking that in future races for the Sanders Cup be sailed by youths under 21 years was defeated. -

Up to the present challenges for the Sanders Cup have been received from Otago and Wellington, while Auckland, the holder of the cup, will defend it. All challenges must be received by the Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association not later than 30th November, and each challenging body must nominate a boat to represent it at least 21 clear days prior to'the date fixed for the contest.
