C.T.C. SEND-OFF

TO ME, E. A. LITTLE

At the Wellington Commercial Travellers' Club last night a very hearty ■end-off was.given to past president and treasurer.E. A. Little, 'who is leaving Wellington to-day for the Old Country by the Uliinaroa.

_ In the unavoidable absence, through illness of the president, Mr.. Arthur Jacobs, the chair was taken by Vicepresident W. H. Smith, and there was a large ;attendanee of members. ; The-chairman said.that they had met to wish -Mr. Little a happy trip Home and a safe return; and might that be soon. : In a letter of apology, ■ their president remarked that '^However heartily you drink his health, you 'cannot do him too much honour"; and so said all of them. Mr. Little had filled practically every office that the association bad to offer—he had been committeeman, vice-president, president, ana treasurer. The association, was a big business now, and required constant care and; supervision on the part of its executive officers. They had a very able secretary in Mr. Robert. Selby, but he could not do everything," and to keep everything running as it ought, he needed the assistance pf the executive officers of the association. He was therefore glad to have that opportunity of speaking of the hard "work that Mr. Little had put into the affairs of the association; and there had been a great deal of»hard work to be done, especially, in connection with the new building_ scheme. He was very sorry that business took their treasurer; away at the time, but he would be back again in time for the opening of the new premises.-'He sincerely hoped that he would have a jolly good time, and so did all his .friends there present (Applause.) . - •

.Messrs. S./S. Dean, E. H. Ellis (trustee)., E. Selby, and T. James also spoke in high terms of ±„-. Little's work for the club; ind^af the call of- the chairman all drank Mr. Little's health with musical honours, wishing him and Mrs. little ;ffa: happy voyage home, -a-' happy! tune in the Old Country, and-a safe and happy return to New Zealand." ' On behalf of the " association, the chairman presented Mr. Little, as. a small mark of their esteem and regard Trith a pair of binpculars. ■ Mr. Little suitably and feelingly responded. ■'■•■, ■'.' i
