MEDICAL CLUB
THE HUNTLY DIFFICULTY B.M.A. SUCCESSFUL (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, This Day. The British Medical Association has been successful in its opposition to the scheme for co-operation between the Waikato Hospital Board and the Huntly Medical Club. The association^ objected to the board appointing a doctor to attend club members in their homes as well as in the hospital, contending that this was an unfair interference with private practice. A private conference was held by the board recently with Dr. J. S. Elliott, president of the 8.M.A., and the Huntly representatives, and a report was drawn up asking the Huntly people to revise the scheme to meet the wishes of the Medical Association. Mr. Smith, the Huntly representative, stated at to-day's meeting of the board that people realised it was impossible to get a suitable doctor against the Medical Association's opposition. The chairman (Mr. Campbell Johnstone) said he hoped Huntly would make an arrangement similar to that at Te Kuiti, the board subsidising a local doctor, for hospital work.
