The chairman, Lord Mclchett, moved at a meeting of the council of the Empire- Producers' Organisation that immediate steps be taken to promote trade agreements between Britain and the Dominions with a view to tho development of the Empire as an economic unit. He pointed out the urgency of over-industrialised Britain balancing with the over-agri-culturalised other units of the Empire. Eaw materials resources gave the Empire irresistible bargaining power with foreign countries. It was important that Australian and other business men who desired to participate in the proposed Imperial business men's conference, concurrently with the next Imperial Conference, should consider Empire development. '

The resolution was carried,

Mr. Gillett, M.P., addressing the Royal Empire Society, paid a tribute to Sir Joseph Ward, who was really the initiator of the system of Empire Trade Commissioners at the Imperial Conference of 1907. Personally, he hoped to assist in insuring that their valuable information was increasingly disseminated.
