PETONE-HUTT CAS BOARD

The report of the gas manager (Mr. H. Appleyard) for the month of October presented to the meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board last, night stated that from 584----tons of coal 4820 gallons of oil, and 102 tons 6ewt of coke, 8,874,000 cubic feet of gas had been manufactured. The increased manufacture over October, 1928, was 586,000 cubic feet. Coal, tar, and coke in stock on Ist November were estimated to amount to 697 tons 14ewt, 6620 gallons, and 14 tons respectively. During the month 54 new services, 44 new cookers, 7 combination cookers, 2 caliphonts, 8 coppers, and 4 hotplates and hottentots were installed. Mains laid totalled 85 chains 14 feet in length.
