PIGEON RACING
The Petone Homing Pigeon Club held its week-end race from lYanktou Junction last Saturday, an air line distance of 240 miles. The birds were liberated against a strong southerly wind, and had the same conditions all the way home, taking seven hours to do the journey. A good many birds' failed to home on the day. Mr. Bolton provided the trophy for this race. The 'following are the' i-e----sults:-^J. Bolton's b.c.e. Sun Star (856 yds per minute), 1; H. Hall's li.c.c. Prince (855.8 yds per minute), 2; C. Carter's b.c.h. No. 18 (855.7 yds per miv), , 3; W, J. Smith's b.c.h. Presentation (852 yds /per minute), 4; H. Hall's b.c.e. Sonny (838 yds per minute), 5; B. Mexted's r.c.c. No. 85 (835 yds per minute), 6. To-morrow's race will be flown from Waiouru, this being the first race of the. second hamper birds. ' ' " '
