CYCLE ROAD RACE

'PALMERSTON TO WELLINGTON

As well as local riders, there will be competitors from other centres of the Dominion taking part in the annual cycle road race from Palmerston North to Wellington, to be held to-morrow week. AmorT" those from outside Wellington who have intimated their intention of competing is L. G> Lukey, the crack Canterbury amateur • road cyclist. The Manawatu Amateur Athletic Subcentre has the organisation of the race from the palmerston North end well in hand. The Mayor is to start the first batch of riders at 8.30 a.m. The services i * "Wtor-lorry to carry competitors' clothing has been requisitioned, and in it there will also be a first-aid officer The Wellington Centre's Cycling Sub-committee has completed arrangements for the finish of the race on the Basin Reserve, where a short . but attractive sports programme will be provided. _ It is anticipated that the first competitor will arrive at the Basin Reserve about 3.30 p.m. : ■ In the evening visiting cyclists will be entertained at a dance in the Basin Reserve pavilion.
