LAWN TENNIS
WELLINGTON CLUB
The annual report and statement of accounts in connection with the Wellington Lnwn Tennis Club, to bo submitted at next Tuesday's thirtieth annual meeting, show that the affairs of the club are generally in a healthy condition, although finance has required close attention. Resurfacing the courts has cost approximately £312, and the erection of a concrete wall along the western boundary has cost another £44. These improvements will, it is anticipated, be much appreciated by members.
Congratulations arc extended to Mrs. W. J. Melody and Miss V. Shortt, who won the ladies' doubles championship at the North Island championship meeting held at Maaterton last season, and to Master E. A. Eoussell upon his siicces at the national hard-court championship for juniors, where he won the singles championship after many stirring battles. It will he remembered that Master Roussell was admitted to the club as a free member for one year, tho idea being, to encourage junior tennis in New Zealand.
