BRITISH SAILOR'S SOCIETY
While the French cruiser Tourville was in Wellington the local branch, "of the British Sailors' Society had a busytime entertaining members of the crew. Last Saturday there wore no fewer than 150 at a social evening which was spent in games and music. At the sailors' tea. on Sunday and the song service held later there was another large assemblage. Other social evenings were held on Monday and Wednesday, and on each occasion over 100 were present, while the concert arranged by Mrs. B. Hardie for Thursday evening attracted a large number from the cruiser. During the busy week there were many volunteers to assist in the work, and the society is indebted to the young ladies and men who helped.
