! The following were elected at the annual meeting of the Newtown Club as officers for the year :^—President, Captain P. A Petersen; vice-president, Mr. W. M'Lay; hon. secretary, Mr. W. Chegwidden; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. W. Salmon (all re-elected),. Committee, Messrs. C. W. Barker, R.-Blenhinsop, G. Haigh F-. Hunt, S. Phillips, A. Priddle, Henry Sexton, G. L. Eae, and W. C. Read; auditors, Messrs. F. Robbins and. W. V. Chegwidden; centre delegates, Mr. W. Chegwidden. The president congratulated the members on .the fact that there were no outstanding subscriptions. Sympathy was expressed by the meeting to those who had lost relatives and property during the recent upheaval on the West Coast.
