COUNTY ELECTION
NAMES PUT IN A HAT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) THAMES, 27th June. There was a peculiar result in the Thames County Election, which closed to-day m the declaration by the returning officer that Mr. Cory Wright was elected for the Tairua riding. The election, held early in May, resulted in Mr. "Wright and Mr. Prescott, the two Candidates, being equal. There were two decla.ration votes, and each received one, but as there was some doubt as to the validity of these Mr. Wright resigned. , : Another poll was taken, which resulted: Wright 27, Prescott 26. There were four declarations. Three of these were informal, and one,for Mr. Prescott, making- another tie. Yesterday, in the presence of the county chairman and representatives of both candidates, the returning officer placed the names in a hat and drew out i Mr. Cory Wright's, declaring him elected ' :
