Stone has restricted his horses to road exercise since their arrival at Riccarton, but he had them out yesterday morning doing useful exercise. After Ten, who has been nominated for hack hurdle events at Trentham, has started on his education as a jumper at Riccarton, and shapes very well. F.. P. Claridge is strongly represented in the llayfield Handicap, the chief event at Ashburton, as out of eight acceptors, Beau Geste, Haze, and Waterlow are from his stable. ■ Kentish Lady has two engagements at Ashburton to-morrow, and she should show up' in whichever event slie contests. Lord Ranald looks none the worse for his race over country at the South Canterbury Meeting. He schooled well yesterday morning, and he should show up again at Ashburton. R. Ellis has recotnmissioned the four-year-old mare Te Awhina. The daughter o£ Paper "Money showed very attractive hack form last season, and she may be a good winner- in open company later on. T. H. Since the Timaru Meeting there has been little work done at Wjngatui, and only Overhaul, Black Duke, and Filosol are engaged at the Wellington fixture next month. Most of the trainers are busy handling young ones, and J. Fielder has no fewer than eight of them in his stables. R. C. Reed is keeping Evening up to her work, and will probably produce her at the South Canterbury Hunt Meeting next month. Since joining his stable this mare has done' very well. S. G. Ware, who had a bad turn during his!visit to the Timaru Meeting, was able to supervise the work of his team at Wingatui on Tuesday morning. He has Filosol engaged at the Wellington Meeting nest month. He, expects Gold Tinge and Academy to rejoin his stable during the next fortnight. . ' Mr. L. C.
