A VISIT TO AUCKLAND
THE OTAGO FARMERS
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, '27th.Juno. * "Auckland is the only place wo-havo visited where we havo not come into touch with some members of the .Farmers' Union executive, and Auckland has more members than any other province in New Zealand," said Mr. J. D. Eevie, president of the Otago Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union prior to his departure with the Otago farmers by train for Eotorua yesterday. The party .of 310 excursion: ists, which visited Auckland, included five members of the Otago Provincial Executive and two members of the Dominion Executive. Mr. Eevie added that they were not looking for bouquets, but he was,very sorry that during the day and three nights which they had spent in Auckland they had not received either a ring or a call from any officials of the Auckland Executive. It was in marked contrast to tho receptions in other centresj where the executives had gone to an immense amount of trouble to show them their methods: which, in many cases, were entirely different from those id operation, in the South. It would have been different if Auckland farmers hack gone to Otago. The party had looEed forward to meeting people "from the North on their own ground and discussing their problems with them. Jiach year at the Dominion Conference in Wellington there was always a wide diversity of opinion between North and South. The problems of the North were not those of the South and viceversa, and farmers welcomed excursions such as the one they were completing to afford them an opportunity of informally discussing matters of. interest with tnose of remoto pr-tvinees, and so enabling them to come to a better understanding. .Unfortunately not a single ofncial of the union had looked them up in Auckland or worried in any way about their -visit, with the result that they.were going away with a feeline that, as far as bringing the provinces together m the interests, of the union was concerned, the visit had been fuAnother party, comprising about 300
