REPORTS. OF. PRINCIPALS

In his report to the Wellington College Board of Governors yesterday afternoon, the headmaster, of Wellington College (Mr. W. A. Armour) stated that there were 706 pupils on the roll, and the average attendance over tho last month was 95 per cent. The work of re-erecting the 'Old gymnasium on the site alongside the baths was well on the way to completion. The new laundry was also nearly finished, and one of the sun porches in Firth House was being equipped as a sick bay. The headmistress of Wellington Girls' College (Miss I. Greig) reported that the average attendance of .the 480 pupils last month was 91 per cent. There were 31 boarders and three dayboarders. Eegarding the staff, Miss Greig stated that Miss Wallace and Miss Heine had terminated their duties, and Miss Pope and Miss Ellis had commenced work at the college. The number of pupils at the Wellington East Girls' College was stated by the headmistress (Miss Batham) to be 384. Miss Hill had left the staff at the end of the month, and her place had been taken by Miss Marchant. Miss Bell, of. the Wellington Girls' College, would join the staff on Ist August. The principal of Eongotai Boys' College (Mr. P. M. Eenner) reported that there were over 300 pupils on the roll. A 25-yards rifle range had been authorised, and work would be commenced in a week or two. Another grant of-£25 had been promised by the Minister. '.. '. -■. •
