The Public Service Association Conference resumed its sittings yesterday. Gratification was expressed by the president at the statement issued by the Prime Minister to the effect that no retrenchment in the Public Service /was intended. ... - . : . : • The following"remits were adopted:— That in view of the qualifications required by lightkeepers who are radio operators, the P.S. Commissioner be requested to increase the present allowance. That officers who arc compelled to supervise, all approved overtime work should be paid for their services. That the Public Service Commissioner be requested, to' expedite his' decision to the matters.raised at the interview following the Draughtsmen's Conference. That this section is not satisfied with the present position of superannuation matters and desires the executive to pursue the matter further with the Government, failing further action by the Superannuation Committee. That the Commissioner be requested to expedite the matter of allowing temporary employees to join the superannuation fund.- -; ". "■-..■., ' That permanent'members of the Public Service, with previous temporary service, be granted the privilege of paying up contributions! in respect of such temporary service, to enable them to enjoy the full benefits of the superannuation scheme.
