CHBISTCHUECH, 27th June. .Au offer was made to the Mayor by Christehureh Kinemas, Ltd., to give exhibitions of pictures at the four theatres under the company's control oh Sunday evening in aid of the Mayor's earthquake relief fund. It was proposed that the whole gross proceeds should go to the fund, and it was also suggested that the council's action should not be taken as a precedent. The offer was considered at a special meeting.by the Laws Commitee today, and was declined on the general ground that the committee was not favourable to the screening of pictures on Sundays. ;
