HUTT VALLEY POWER BOARD
The monthly meeting o£ the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board was held yesterday. There were present Mr. A. W. Press (chairman), Messrs. J. W. M'Ewan, W. H. P. Barber, A. Walker, L. .Stewart, E. •Wihdley, A. J. Hobbs, A. Anderson, and A. J..M'Curdy. The 'Johnspnyille'Town Boaid wrote stating that it would accept no hdbilrty for the cost o£ the removal of poles made necessary by street re-alignment. A reply is to be sent that the Power Board cannot accept any liability 'in this matter. The chairman and solicitor of- the Power Board are to. confer with a. view to reaching a solution o£ the question whether power boards.or local, authorities are to pay for pole removals. The engineer's report for the period 13th May to 15th June stated that 76 poles had been erected. The number of consumers 'connected was 137, bringing the total number of connected consumers to date to 8270 Othfci figures for the penod. -with those to date in parentheses, were? Total connected load, 501 k.w. (20,705 k.w.), made up" of light 53 k.w. (3750 kw.), heat 355 ,k;V- W,780 fc-w.), and power 03 k.w. (5431 k.w.); electric ranges installed 18 (879); cow plants, 2 (51); water heaters, 24 (630). The greatest number of units purchased from Khandallah was 380,790 for the week ended 10th June, being a 44 per cent increase over last year's coiresponding figure. The maximum demand was 4144 k.v.a.
