PALMEBSTON N., This Day. At the 1 Police Court John Beginald Ellis, aged SO, a painter, pleaded guilty to a series of charges involving the passing of valueless cheques. He. was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence on a charge of forgery. The accused- pleaded guilty to'stealing a ring and £1. He was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, .to be concurrent with the term he is at present serving* ■
