EASY WIN FOR 'VARSITY.
University had no difficulty in defeating Potone in the match played at Karori. llie ground was very heavy and ragged play resulted. Petone held their own during the first half, but their forwards lacked the combination to carry out dangerous rushes into 'Varsity's circle. The only goal scored in the first half was secured for 'Varsity by Miller. In the second spell 'Varsity livened up their tactics and scores were registered by Bishop and Spence-Sales. A good counter-attack was organised by the Petone forwards, and Palmer scored their only goal. Play then fluctuated, but Robinsou scored again for 'Varsity before the close of the game,' making the final score 'Varsity 4, Petone 1. Mr. H.,J. Smith referced.
