' LONDON, 26th; April.":/ , The Grand Duke Michael of Russia died at his residence in Regent's Part to-day of influenza. The Marchioness of Milford Haven and other relatives were present. .

The Grand Duke- Michael was one of the principal' Eussian commanders in the early stages of the Great War. He was the second son of the late Grand Duke Michael Nikoloyevich, who- died some years ago. The Grand Duke who has just died married morganati-caliy, his wife-being known as-the Countess Torby, the pair living in England for many years. The Tsar of Russia, deprived of his throne and later deprived of his life during the * revolution of 1917, officially abdicated oiilStli March of that year in favour of the Grand. Duke Michael, but the .revolution-had so developed that it was impossible;tt» save the dynasty, even with a,; change, of leadership.
