EPISCOPAL PLUM
ARCHBISHOP OF MELBOURNE
(From "Tho Post's" Representative.) SYDNEY. 18th ".April.
Although little is being said about it, tho Anglican Church is active in connection with the election of a successor to the late Archbishop Lees, of Melbourne. Iv its choice,, the Archbishopric Election Board will have before it the whole field .of the Anglican communion, in Australia and throughout the Empire. The members of the board are i under a J solemn bond of silence in connection with the election. One name prominently mentioned for the high ecclesiastical post is that of Bishop Long, of Newcastle, "one of the most distinguished, of Australia's churchmen, but whether he would meet with the unanimous support of tho Anglican communion in Victoria is another matter. Bishop Long combines with outstanding church statesmanship a striking personality and platform presence, and a courage of convictions not easily shaken. Tbe general belief, however, is that the church will go to England for the new arch- [ bishop. .
