Oji Friday next at tho Grand Opera House the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., management, will present for tho first time in Wellington, Barry Conner's brilliant play, "Tho Patsy," which lias just terminated a run of over 30 weeks in Sydney. For tho Australian and New „ Zealand representation of "The Patsy" tho management engaged a company of star artists, including Miss Irene Homer, a young New York actress who was specially engaged by tho author of tho play for the rolo of tho heroine. ■ Miss Homer has, it is said, a quiet method, which is effective. From comedy sho ptisses to pathos with a naturalness which lends added value to the effect, and sho is the possessor of a personality that makes hef a favourite from the moment sho appears on tho stage. Mr. A. S. Byron, who plays tho part of Mr. Harrington, is said to be ono of the finest .actors who lias ever appeared In Australia, and Mr. Brandon Peters, a young New York artist, also made himself popular in Sydney. Mr. Sam Wren will play tho role of Billy Caldwell. Miss Eileen Sparks, who will appear as Graco Harrington, will be remembered for her fine work when sho toured New Zealand with Guy Bates Post and Maurice Moscovltch. ' Miss Vera Gerald made her first appearance in Sydney in "The Cuckoo in the Nest," hut she was transferred from that play to "Tho Patsy" when it was first staged in Melbourne. Only a limited number of performances can be staged of "The Patsy," for which tho box plans will be opened at The Bristol on Wednesday next.
