GROWERS' RESOLUTION
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
The following resolution on wheat duties was carried at the annual meeting of the Canterbury A. and V. Association last night: "That any reduction in the protection all'orded to wheat growers in the (South Island by altering the existing duties on wheat and Hour is unfair and inequitable, as the present duties provide Ihe only means of working our arable land 1o capacity, which in turn provides work i'or large numbers of farm workers and mill hands at fair wages, and thus piisures employment for many who would have to be provided for by (Invvnimcnt jobs; 'and that the incoming conimitteo should associate itselt with other South Island organisations for the purpose of ventilating the matter and resisting any attempt to alter the vxisting duties."
