DIRT TRACK RACING.
An increase in the number of competitors and the staging o£ additional special events make up a larger number of starts for to-morrow night at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway than was the ease at the opening meeting. Much has been done by officials and competitors during the week in preparation for the second meeting, and with improved arrangements there is also every prospect of competition on an even higher plane than previously. The thrills which the sport offers, particularly in broadsiding at corners, should be seen to the full, especially in the efforts of the two Australian riders, Gus Clifton and Max Graham, to establish track records. All the leading riders will be taking part in the Kilbirnie Open Handicap and in the Big Nine Scratch Race, and the winner o£ the latter will oppose Max Graham in a contest for possession of the Golden Helmet. The B grade riders are also being well catered for. Entrants for the principal event, all starting from scratch, are:—Graham and Clifton (Australia), Arnotfc (Manawatu), Ross (Hawkcs Bay), Morgan (Wairarapa), and Kilminster, M'Ghee, Noylor, and Allen (Wellington), with Managh, M'Kenzie, and Harvio as emergencies. In the Open Handicap the Australians are conceding starts up to 12 seconds, Allen, Arnott, and Kilmiuster being handicapped at 4sec. Reserved seats are still available, information on this and other matters being published elsewhere in this issue.
