GIRL KILLED
LEAVES MOVING TRAIN
ACCIDENT AT LOWER HUTT
A fatal accident occurred at the Lower Hutt Bailway Station last evening. As the train which left Lambton Station at three minutes past 5 was pulling into the station, a fourteen-year-old girl, Betty Hill, daughter of Mr.- H. V. Hill, of 40, Eandwick crescent, Lower Hutt, alighted from the train while it was still in motion. She fell and received extensive injuries, which included the fracture of a number of her right ribs, concussion, shock, and injuries to her scalp and arms. The injured girl was removed to her home, from where she was taken; to the Wellington Hospital by the City Ambulance. She was admitted to- the Hospital at S p.m., but died from her injuries at 8.40 p.m. An inquest will be held.
The deceased was.returning home after attending a clasß at the ; Wellington Technical College. She was not in tho habit of going to the Lower Hutt Station, the nearest station to her home being Woburn. It is thought that she took the wrong train, and as it pulled up at the northern end of the platform, sho surmised that it was not going to stop and jumped off in a hurry.
