MASTER PAINTERS
A SOCIAL EVENING
To mark the close of the animal conference of the New Zealand Master Painters' Federation, a smoke social was tendered to the visiting delegates last night by the members of the AVellington .Master Painters' Association. There was* a lengthy toast list, the speeches being interspersed with musical and elocutionary items. Compliments were exchanged between the local and visiting delegates, and an altogether pleasant social evening was spent. The main toasts were "The Wellington Association," proposed by Mr. P. E. Tingey (Wauganui) and responded to by Mr. W. Nicol; "The Federation," proposed by Mr. F. C. Standidge, and responded to by Messrs. J. Abbott (Dunedin), E. J. Bell (Christchurch), and D. Lee (Christchurch); "The Visiting Delegates," proposed by Mr. G. Gapes and responded to by Messrs. A. A. Campbell (Dunedin), O. Allomes (Wangamu), and G. Sey (Christchurch); and "Tho Wholesale Houses," proposed by Mr. M. Glading and responded to_ by Messrs. P. X Tingey, Briton Smith, M. Jackson,-and O. H. Hempleinan.
The immediate past president, Mr. T. A. Wells (Wellington) was presented with a gold medal in recognition of his services to tho federation as president for two terms.
The musical programme was provided by Messrs. R. Blow, S. Tingey, E. Glading, S. Nelson, N. Aitken, Wilkinson, V. Oswin, and B. Ginger.
