To-night, at 8 o'clock, the presentation of the first talking, singing, and sound pictures In New Zealand will bo made at the Paramount Theatre. "The Street Angel," together with a full sound dim supporting programme, will-bo presented for tlio first 'time in New Zealand as an additional feature of interest. Matinees will take place daily. For such an important event as the presentation "of the first sound picture programme in the Dominion, the Paramount management has made a happy selection in "The .Street Angel," an example of its retnarliublc quality being shbwn In the fact that it commenced screening at the magnificent Prince Kdward Theatre in Sydney a short time after Christmas, and Is still being presented to record houses, thero being . four sessions a day lv a theatre of huge capacity. To-day's programmo opens with a Fox sound picture newsreel—the same stylo of budget now being presented at present except that every item lias the accompanying and authentic sound effect. The next subject will be the literary genius, Bernard Shaw, the personality of this noted pcrsonagu being most apparent nnil well calculated to hold any audience. "Chic" Sale, a famous American stage and screen star, is the leading figure in tlio next item, which is entitled "The Star Witness," this production beiiiß a comedy, and is a sound picturo from first to last. Constance Merrlck and Muriel Pollock, the two famous "Klo Rita" girls, appear next, in a two-piano specialty in "Spring Fever." The world-famous Roxy Theatre Orchestra, of 111) artists, provides a music accompaniment to the big attraction, "The Street Angel."
