The Royal Commission appointed by; the Canadian Government to make recommendations regarding Canadian broadcasting is returning to Canada after having spent a mouth in London. i and having visited Geneva, Berlin, The Hague, Brussels, and I Paris. On its return to Can- ' ada, where at present radio broadI casting is carried on, almost entirely by 1 private enterprise for gain, the Commission will confer with the provincial 1 authorities in every province. It it stated that the German policy of decen--1 tracing control of radio programmer and the high standard of public service .maintained by the British Broadcasting ' Corporation have particularly impressed the Boyal Commission. Sir John Aird, Chairman of the Commission, stated in an interview that, whatever policy of national broadcasting was recommended by the Commission, whether under private enterprise or State ownership, the Commissioners vrere hopeful that by the time a chain of powerful stations was built across Canada, it would be possible to arrange for a. regular weekly programme of British broadcasting for Canadian listeners. • "
