PARTIES FAIL TO AGREE
MATTER LEFT TO 8.8.C. British Official Wlreleu. RUGBY, sth March. During the debate on' tho Post Office Estimates in the Houbc of Commons last night, it was urged that the broadcasting services should be employed for putting the views of political parties before the public during the coming General Election campaign. The Postmaster-General, Sir W. Mit-chell-Thompson, replying, regretted that an attempt which was made through, the, usual channels to come to an agreements as to a fair allocation of the use of broadcasting between the respective political parties broke down. .He contended that it was not unreasonable for the Government to have asked that for every attack made upon them by Labour or Liberal they should be given, the opportunity of replying.. The attempt at coming to an arrangement having failed, he could not agree, that it was his duty to intervene or to supplant tho British Broadcasting Corporation.
