There were a number of good displays with the bat, and some excellent bowling performances -were also registered,'. the latter, including' the "hat trick" by A. M. Cousins (Wellington). Three centuries were made in the Kilbirnie-Midland. match, A. Boneghue (Midland) carrying his sdore of 130 on the previous 'Saturday to 194, and W. J. R. Christophersen and W. Harris making 136 and 100 respectively in Kilibrnie's second innjngs, as wel las putting on 198 ruus for the fourth wicket. In the Hutt-Welling-ton 1 match at Kelburn Park, W. Airey showed a return to'his best batting form, and A. J. Hyder gave an entertaining display of hard hitting. Birch, Biggar, and Aldersley batted well > for Hutt.; Caldwell (University) and, Brice and Patrick (Petone) were in batting form in the Univev-' sity-Petone match at Petone, while the majority of the Old Boys' players showed up well against Institute at the Basin Reserve, Parsloe, James, and Lambert doing best, with Reynolds and' Robinson making a meritorious last wicket effort which gave their side ..victory. In 'three of the matches the play was exciting. When Old Boys had lost nine wickets against' Institute over 40 ruus were required to avert defeat, and these were made amidst much excitement. In the WellingtonHutt match the first innings also had an exciting finish, Wellington winning by ten runs after being in arrears when the ninth wicket fell. Hyder's hard hitting contributed largely to Wellington's success. University improved their championship points by four in defeating Petone within a few minutes of the call of time, although they were assured of a three-point win by a lead on the first ininugs. Petone declared their second innings closed, and this action gave University a sporting chance of an outright win. ■ Among the bowlers who did well on Saturday were Hope (Petone), M'Girr and Aldersley (Hutt), Cousins (Wellington)j Griffiths and Bramley (Kilbirnie), Tripe and M'Leod (University(, Massey and Henderson (Institute). The results were that University gained a four-point win over Potone, and Midland, Wellington, and Old Boys had threepoint wins over Kilbirnie,'Hutt, and Institute respectively. The championship points, with one series of matches to be played, are:—Old Boys 18, Midland 10, Wellington 16, University 15, Institute 11, Petone 11, Kilbirnie 7, Hutt 6.
