AUCKLAND, This Pay.

It is understood that the constitution of the board appointed under the Mental Defectives Act, 1928; "will be as follows:—Dr. T. H. A. Valintine (Di-rector-General of Health), Dr. T. G. Gray (Director-General of -Mental Hobpitals), Mr. T.''B;-Strong (Director of Education), Mr. B. L.Dallard-(Control-ler-General of Prisons), Miss Jean Begg (general secretary' of the Auckland Y.W.C.A.),'Dr. Russell' (Deputy-Direc-tor-General of Mental Hospitals), and Mrs. Peter Fraser (Wellington)/ ■•'

Dr. 'Russell is a psychiatrist, and Mrs. Fraser has been official visitor to Porirua Mental Hospital for : a number of years. Miss Begg has had large experience abroad, especially among girls at Sleigh ton Farm, New Jersey. The board will function almost immediately.
