(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, 29 th January. Since the sitting of the Waikato Diocesan Synod last July strong differences have existed between Bishop C. A. Chorrington and Dean G. R. Barjiett, of Hamilton. The strained relations have become accentuated recently, and a fortnight ago the Bishop wrote to tho Dcnn requesting him to send in his resignation within soven days.

The Dean replied declining to accede to the Bishop's request, and as a result a Commission has been appointed to inquire into tho question of the Dean's iitness to retain office as Dean of tho cathedral and vicar of St. Peter's parish.

Tho Commission, after hearing evidence, will report to tho Bishop, who will act in accordance with the Commission's recommendation.
