K.A.M.C. MEMORIAL

A memorial to the members of the Koyal Army Medical Corps who trained at Awa"jiuni and who made the supreme sacrifice in tiie Great, War, hits been cngafjint; thu attention of a committee consisting of members of tho Manawalu Racing Club who served at the front, Drs. Putnam ami Wylic, and Colonel Wliyte, of Jhe Doi'enee Department, Palmerston North.

It is intended that the memorial^ shall take tho form of a lakelet or tank in the shape of the ambulance cross. Each section will be 60ft long by 20ft broad and sft deep. Tho tank will hold. GO.OUOO gallons of water. In the centre at an un^le to the square will be a pint-form built of Nelson marble in _ large blocks. The monument will be 15ft high, and about 10ft square at the bottom, receding in tiers till at the top the monument is 12in square. Up the centre of the monument is a pipe from a 4in artesian well. The water overflows at the top and drops down in small waterfalls to the bottom and into the lakelet.

The Governor-General (Sir Charles Forgiussin). is to be invited to unveil the memorial next month.

The committee is endeavouring to secure the names of all who were trained at Awapuni, and invites assistance in making the list complete.
