Bight Russian generals were pall-bearers. Marshal Petain represented France. Shortly before his death the Grand Duke signed a message to the people of Russia that the decisive momentwas approaching. "Gather your forces with' a holy cross in your hand and resume progress along the road of greatness. Glory is marked out for you. Spare neither strength nor means for the country's redemption."
