TO BE HELD .ON BEACHES (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. Permission to tho United Protestant . Churches;b£ Ouehunga to conduct openair servicßS near the beach at the foot of Churcli street on. Sunday afternoon during January and February, was granted by tho Borough Council tonight. A committee representing all churches participating has «been set up to attend to the proper conduct of the services. . ■. The Mayor, Mr. W. C. Coldicutt, cordially supported the scheme, and said ho hoped open-air Sunday':schools would be established for. children. The denominations which have-agreed to co-operate in tho united services l are the, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Congregational Churches, . tlie Salvation Army, and tho Clmrclr.of. Christ. The idea' is to tako the Gospel to adults and children iv tho fresh air and sunsliino on the beach. Most of the Sunday schools arc closed throughout January on account of-, the heat, ami the bcn'cli'services .will act as ja partial substitute. An endeavour will'bo made to hold, the interest of both parents and children, two short addresses being provided for each iv turn. Bright singing, including solos, will also be made a feature, and the whole service is not. to exceed an hour.
