HOMING PIGEONS.
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held two races during the week-end —a flock rape from Oauiaru (325 miles) and a teams' race from Auckland (314 miles). The results are:— Oamaru Race (IS lofts, 65 birds). — Messrs. Marple and Son's blue hen (600----1920), Bhr 47min 13sec, 1; Mr. R. Lamb's black eh. cock (350-1925), Bhr 48min 4Ssec, 2; Mr. G. Wilson's blue eh. hen (unrung), Shr 48min 53sec, 3; Mr. G. Wilson's blue eh. heu (31G-1026), Shr 49miu Usee, 4; Messrs. Marple and Son's blue eh. hen (822-1026), Shr 49min 40sec, 5; Priddle and Son's blue eh. cock (8-1928), Bhr 49min 48see, 6. Auckland Race (17 lofts, 34 birds)—ln this race each owner was represented by two birds, both having to be timed in and the average time taken. The birds must have had to face adverse weather conditions, as only two got through on the day of liberation, one belonging to Messrs. Priddle and Sous homing at 4.20 p.m. and one of Mr. H. Murphy s coming at 5.57 p.m. Mr. Murphy got his second bird early next morning and his was the only loft to trap in both birds in race time. Result— Mr. H. Murphy's blue eh. cock (295----192G) and blue eh. cock (397-1925), 1.
