| LOCAL THUNDEBSTOEM The weather forecasts of the last few days have hinted at the possibilities of i thunderstorms. Yesterday evening's oppressive and still atmosphere and tho j ominous black clouds gathering in tho j north, presaged a, storm which burst at 7,40 p.m. with somewhat startling suddenness. Torrential rain fell for about ,20 minutes, accompanied by several I vivid flashes of lightning and rumbling claps of thunder. The rain, while it ! lasted, was exceptionally heavy, being | for the time quite beyond the capacity of many storm Water drains. After 15 to 20 minutes, however, the rain abated considerably, and the storm passed away. The downpour came at an awkward time for many who wero just on the way out for evening entertainments; those who were caught unprepared with umbrellas or waterproof coats arrived soaked.,
