CARNIVAL VOTING

BY NUMBER ONLY

FOR QUEEN COMPETITION

Though the various queen committees of tho Ait Gallery and Museum Eund Carnival have gathered in fair sums—, they are not saying just how much— as nest eggs, the public voting in the contest will not commence till to-mor-row, when those attending Newtown Park will receive 1 voting coupon^ with their admission tickets. Each sixpence gives one vote, so that the shilling admission charge will give two. The coupons are to be marked by number, as follows:—Joan of Arc, Miss Nancy Dudley (Education and Youth), 1; Atalanta, Miss Sybil Swinburne (Sport), 2; Queen of Sheba, Miss Allison Kirkcaldie (Commerce), 3; Cleopatra, Miss Tiova Meadows (Transportation), 4; Iphigenia, Miss Kathleen O'Brien (Entertainments), 5; Queen Eleanor, Miss Irene Boyd (Municipal Organisations), 6. The various queen badges, of which 20,000 are already on issue, will each count two votes. In tho event.of the weather proving unsuitable to-morrow afternoon, necessitating a postponement of the Transportation Pageant, a flag will be flown from the Town Hall from 11 a.m. onwards. On Sunday evening a grand concert recital by fifty selected instrumentalists from the ranks of tho Associated Bands of Wellington, assisted by leading Wellington artists, will be given in the Town Hall in aid of the carnival fund. A silver coin collection will be made at the doors, which will open at 7 o 'clock.
