AN EMPIRE TOUR

(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 7th September. Dr. M. J. Kendall announces in "The Times" that the Public Schools Kmpire Tour Committee have now made arrangements for a tour to New Zealand, starting on 4th January, 1929, and returning about ■ the middle of May. It is proposed to go out by Panama and to return by Suez, calling at Australian ports and at Colombo. The boys will thus make a voyage round the world and spend seven weeks in exploring New Zealand in summer time. They will sec the most attractive places in both islands. They will also make acquaintance with the main cities and the chief schools and colleges. They will, with the help of a stall' of 'two or three officers, leavn .something of the problems—political, social, and agricultural —which these islands present. It is hoped that an Eton master will be in charge. "The cost of the tour will, we expect," writes Dr. Kendall, "owing to many concessions and much hospitality, be about £150; but it is not possible to form an accurate estimate at present. Boys must be not less than 17 years of uge and should be at school in December. The tour will not start unless we get 20 names by the end of October. The tour has received the warm approval of the High Commissioner I'or New Zealand, who is represented on our committee."
