IMPROVING WEATHER
FOR A SHORT TIME ONLY The depression which passed over the Dominion yesterday afternoon has been followed by a secondary disturbance, and barometers are still low. During Friday night strong north-westerly winds backed temporarily to the southwest in some parts. Although southerlies were reported this morning from some places on the East Coast and in Cook Strait, the predominate direction of the wind is still between north and west. It was mainly fair on the East Coast yesterday, but elsewhere it' was unsettled, and during the night rain was fairly general. A prevalence of moderate to strong south-westerly winds is anticipated, with changeable weather and intermittent showers in most districts. A temporary improvement, however, with, cooler temperatures, may be expected, although, owing to the development of a fresh disturbance over south-east Australia, any fine spell is not likely to be of long duration.
