WELLINGTON ESPERANTO CLUB
Tho weekly meeting of the "Wellington Esperanto Club took place last Tuesday evening in the V.M.C.A., Mr. Jl'. C. Jnok presiding. ' After instruction classes had been held, Mr. W. 11. King gave a short talk on "A Peep into the Esperanto Press." Mr. E. D. Bernstein delivered a lecture on "Poland, the Birthplace oi' Esperanto." A translation of Hamlet's "Soloquy" was recited by G. H. Garbett. Tho president, in a short speech on ''Esperanto and Education," stated that prominent educationists in England were advocating the introduction of Esperanto into the schools. Esperanto gave children an insight into the full meaning of English, and their geography and history was improved by their correspondence with children of other nationalities. From a utilitarian point of view, as well as from the educational side, he said, Esperanto should be •taught in the schools of every country. Mr. Jack's address was given in both Esperanto and English, and was thoroughly appreciated.
