SOCCER ON SATURDAY (From Our Own Correspondent.) ' ' •'. NELSON, J2th September. At the Tahuna golf course interest centres on the Encounter Shield match, in which Saunders, in the fourth round, did a net 73 and moved from third to first position. Ho has now a lead of 5 strokes over Campbell-Smith, tho second man, and should on his present form have no difficulty in capturing the trophy, which ho won last year. A team from the Nelson Club will go to Blenheim at the weekend to play the annual match for the Moore-Reid Cup. Nelson Soccer circles arc thrilled by the forthcoming visit of two teams from the AYellington., Watersiders' Club nest Saturday. The Nelson senior team has been strengthened since the visit of the Canadians, and the juniors are also expected to make a good showing. The AVatersiders have not been beaten this season, and some first-class Soccer should be seen. Both games will be played at Trafalgar Park, the junior at 1.45 p.m. and the senior at 3 p.m. Nelson will be represented by the following teams:—Senior: Muncaster, Lane, Smalley, Leake, Bourne, Hurst, Baxter, Gould, Richards (captain), Guy, and W. Smith. Junior: F. and A. Kirby, Friend, Miller, Coxhill, Bunster, G. Smith, 'Henderson, Cowman, Dore, and Mabin. The late Mr. L. J. C. He.rick, who died at Greytown on Saturday, was a native of Motueka, and went to the Wairarapa in 1891. He leaves a widow and six daughters.
