ASSISTED PASSAGES
BRITAIN TO CANADA SETTLERS' DEPENDANTS British Official Wliclcsi. (Received 13tli September, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 12th September. The British and Canadian Governments have arranged to provide assisted passages from Great Britain to Canada for the wives and families of industrial workers in the Dominion. Tho only dependants to whom such assistance has hitherto been granted have been those of settlers working on the land. Others have had to pay the full £15 steamship fare. Under the new arrangement adults will pay £3 15s, which will cover third-class steamer fare, together with railway fare in Canada. Children under 17 will travel free for the whole distance from the port of embarkation to the end of the railway journey in Canada. Tho scheme is meant to apply to the wives and chil dren of men who sailed from the Unit ed Kingdom before 6th Juno this year, and are satisfactorily settled in the Dominion.
