MARITIME TRANSPORT 1 DEFENCE OF INTERESTS' \ MELBOURNE, 10th September. A conference of waterside workert adopted a motion for the formation of a Marine Workers' Industry Union, to build up a powerful organisation capable of defending tho workers' interests. The conference instructed th« Federal committee of management to enter into negotiations with all maritime unions with a view to effecting an immedaite amalgamation, bringing into existence a marine transport workers' industrial organisation of Australia and New Zealand, covering th« whole of the workers in tho maritime section of the transport industry.
